My first steps towards the Great North Run
I am a complete beginner and have never taken part in a running event. My first test was a gentle 7 km run and walk in 86 minutes. When I noticed a little discomfort in my left knee, I slowed down, listened to my body and realised that the right footwear would matter.
After advice from experienced runners and my personal trainer Darren, I had a gait analysis at Cotswold Outdoor. I learned that my gait is neutral and, after trying several brands, chose the Brooks Glycerin 23 for its supportive feel. I also treated myself to Shokz—my new running companion for podcasts along the way.
